Congratulations Aaron Judge!!

62 home runs in a 162 game season comes out to one home run every 2.61 games. This means that while facing the best pitchers in the world, Aaron Judge hit one home run at least every three games. That is absurd! With the previous record being held by Roger Maris since 1961, this is not a record that will be easily matched.

One has to wonder if Aaron ever set becoming the HR King as a personal goal. Becoming the Home Run King is not a goal placed upon oneself lightly, and certainly not a goal many others would seriously consider within reach. Imagine telling your peers that you were going to become the AL home run champion. How do you picture their reactions to be? In Judge’s quest for 62 he was met with a lot of encouragement as well as a lot of doubt, but as the season went on and as that goal got within reach we imagine the encouragement grew to a roar and the doubt could barely be heard.

This great accomplishment could not have been earned by a better sportsman in the game today. I encourage you to scroll below and listen to Judge’s post game interviews. Shortly after breaking a record held for 61 years, Judge graciously gave all the credit away while keeping little for himself. Thanking his team, fans and family, Judge looked relieved to have finished this long journey. In game 161 of the 162 game regular season Aaron Judge had completed his goal.

He had become the HR King.
